What your Depression Test Results Mean:

If you get less than 5 – You have a Low level or the beginnings of depression

5 to 10 – This equates to a moderate level, it is starting to affect you in your daily life so please be careful. Get help.

11 plus – If you get this score then you have a high level of depression – it is now affecting your daily life and you need to get some help. Don’t be afraid to ask a professional for support and advice. Don’t suffer alone!

Depression can be a very serious condition, so if you score moderate or high depression please see a doctor. Also, consider some of the tools and courses I suggest on the self help courses and tools section of this website because after all’s said and done, it’s up to you to heal yourself! I also highly recommend Self Hypnosis, find out more about here. And if you need help quickly please don’t hesitate to go to a professional therapist or counsellor, they can really help put your life back in order.

Keep in Mind:

Just a few positive answers to the test questions may not be a problem, but if you answer yes to five or more, you are almost certainly depressed. Your score will be out of 19 points where 19 would be extreme depression and 0 would be no depression symptoms at all. It is actually quite difficult to score zero as everyone has some form of negative feelings, no-one is perfect!

There is a wide range of being depressed from low to high levels. If you answered yes to numbers 16, 18 or 19 you must do something now! Some form of counseling or therapy could be very helpful to you after taking this depression test. Why not consider a wonderful new idea – online counseling?

How to use the results

Please use the results as a springboard to take action. Please use all of the information contained in this website and check out the links for other resources. I have tried to build a resource of helpful information and guidance on this website to help you, but please also consider getting professional help if you are suffering from serious depression. This test can help inform you what to do next. Always remember, depression can be beaten and millions of people like you around the world have done just that.

The test on this page is a quick and easy first step towards answering a simple question “Am I depressed?” It is very important to answer this question. After you have taken the test you will know whether you are suffering from depression and whether it is slight, moderate or severe in intensity, and with this knowledge, you will be able to take the next step in helping yourself to recover from this awful illness.

Depression is a serious business and nobody should tell you otherwise. Even slight depression can lead to more severe symptoms later if not treated or if ignored. There are many reasons why you may choose to ignore it but please don’t. Get help from a doctor initially and maybe from a therapist or counsellor if your life is affected on a daily basis.

Depression doesn’t only affect you

When you become depressed it is easy to forget something quite important, that you are not the only one affected by this disorder. Your family and close friends will be among the first to notice changes in you and warn you. They may be upset to see you in this state or even be confused why it is happening. Please don’t turn them away or refuse help if they offer it. The most important thing in beating depression is to first admit to yourself that you have a problem and need to get some help. This depression test should help make clear to you if you should seek professional help from a doctor or you could try counselling online.

One fact that is often forgotten is the social impact of being depressed. When you are suffering you may avoid others, even close friends. The biggest problem is that you may be unaware of how your social behaviour is affected. This change in your behaviour to others even if it is a small one, will be noticed by others and may affect how they interact with you. They may respond in a negative way which can make you feel even worse. You must use this test in a positive way and seek both answers and get further help if you need it.

Information on this depression test

I decided to create this quick and easy check for depression some years ago. If you would like to use it then that is fine if you credit me and this website. A mention or two on social media would also be much appreciated if you think this test is helpful to others. This will help them find this test much more easily. All help is very much appreciated.

Often people ask me if my test is validated and what is the reliability? The answer is I don’t know. If anyone would like to do a study into the validity and reliability I would like to hear from you and certainly this would be very valuable. Thanks for checking out the test!

One final word to all of you who use this test. Whatever the results you get please don’t stop after doing the test. Take action to stop or prevent your negative feelings and if you are depressed, do something about it.
