Questions about Depression

On this page I answer your questions about depression. I can't answer them all but I do love to receive your emails - contact me with your depression questions here

"Can you guide me how I can use different strategies to cope with depression?"

Thanks for your question. There are many things you can do to cope with depression..

The most important is to get into your head that you CAN beat it - think of depression as a person and you have to fight him off and destroy his negativity. That person is really something in your mind.

Here we go:

1. be thankful every day and every minute for what you have 2. try to want what you already have and not keep longing for better 3. stop thinking of the future or past 4. reward yourself when you succeed no matter how small 5. try to be around positive people 6. don't avoid people - loneliness does not help 7. smile even if you don’t want to 8. imagine what would happen if something went well 9. check out this page:

There are so many other things I could add to my list - I also recommend you consider getting a copy of my e-book which I personally wrote from experience as a sufferer of depression and low self esteem. Check it below..

"I feel very unhappy during early morning, every day. What is this syndrome known as? Please send me some information."

A common problem when someone is depressed is the dreadful feeling you have when you wake up. An emptiness inside, a sickness in your stomach. A negative attitude towards the day ahead. All you can see is blackness. I've suffered it too.

What's this called?

It's called Melancholia. It is a depressive syndrome that can cause early waking in the morning and severe mood swings especially bad in the early waking hours. Sleeplessness is also caused by Melancholia and that doesn't help because you feel grumpy on waking due to disturbed sleep patterns.

"What can I do about mild depression? I want to feel better!"

First, let me tell you something - you are not alone, depressive symptoms can be found in about 15-20% of people and more women suffer than men generally.

Social factors are important so try to do whatever you can to improve our social environment. See friends and don't ignore them even if you feel terrible. get out of the city if that's where you live and into nature as often as you can. If you're stuck at home or unemployed do whatever you can to get help and get out and occupy yourself in something positive and constructive. If it is difficult to find work at least you can try to help others by volunteering or helping out.

Low self-esteem, hopelessness and feeling helpless are also causes of mild depression.

Don't ignore your feelings and talk about them with someone who can help, meet friends or seek guidance from a professional. Help yourself too by trying to focus on more positive things.

I think the best advice I can give is - change your attitude and start to take control of your emotions - don't let depression beat you.
